Lashify: The Game-Changing DIY Lash Extension System

Why did I choose to review Lashify? When it comes to eyelashes, I sadly struck out in the gene pool. Mine are short and flat, and they never seem to grow any longer despite my meticulous eyelash care regimen. In an effort to enhance my lashes, I’ve tried everything from eyelash growth serums to glue-on strip lashes to salon extensions. Unfortunately, my eyes are super sensitive, and all of these attempts have irritated my eyes and damaged my natural lashes, which has resulted in — you guessed it — bald spots.
But then I started hearing some great things about Lashify’s DIY lash extension system. I was excited to try it, but honestly a little nervous, considering my previous lash disasters. But I’m so glad I did because the results were game-changing. My lashes have never looked better, and I’ve finally achieved my perfect no-makeup look. After trying Lashify for one week, I threw away all my old strip lashes and tubes of glue, and made room for my new Lashify Control Kit. Here’s my honest review of Lashify, including before-and-after photos, if it’s worth the money, how long they last for and if you can get them wet.

What is Lashify?

Let me start off by saying that Lashify’s DIY lash extension system is not like salon extensions nor glue-on strip lashes. Lashify works very differently — most notably, the lashes (a.k.a. Gossamers) are applied to the underside of your natural lashes for a more seamless look. The system was also specifically designed for sensitive eyes. Lashify’s formulas are ophthalmologist-tested, hypoallergenic and free of irritants, such as formaldehydes, cyanoacrylates, and latex.

Made of pure Korean PBT silk, the Gossamers are lightweight and feathery, so they don’t put stress on your natural lashes. And since they’re applied a couple millimeters away from your waterline, they give space for your lashes to breathe and grow. It’s not just the lashes that are top-quality either; the lash bond (Whisper Light) is a flexible bond that’s gentle on your lashes and designed to last. Lashify is also vegan and cruelty-free, which is a huge plus for those of us who are conscious about our beauty choices.

How to Prep for Application

Before diving into the application process, you’ll need to make sure your lashes are properly prepped. This involves using Lashify’s Pre-Cleanse to remove any oils, makeup, or residue from your lashes. If you don’t have the Pre-Cleanse, you can simply wash your face and make sure your lashes are completely dry before starting the application.

To get started with Lashify, you’ll need their Control Kit, which includes everything you need for the application process. The Control Kit includes the Fuse Control Wand, which is the tool you’ll use to apply the lashes, Wandoms (protective pieces for the wand), Gossamers of your choice, Whisper Light lash bond (available in clear and black), Glass finishing coat, and a built-in mirror. The Control Kit is priced at $145, and additional costs may be incurred for replacing Gossamers, Whisper Light, or Glass. For beginners, Lashify also offers a Practice Pack, which costs $45 or is available for free with the purchase of any full-price Lashify Gossamer. The Practice Pack includes a small tube of practice bond, Anti-Stix Seal, thicker lashes, and a practice applicator tool.

How to Apply, Step by Step

Now that you have your Control Kit ready, here’s a step-by-step guide to applying Lashify:

  1. Prep your lashes: Make sure your lashes are clean, dry, and free from any oils or residue. You can use Lashify’s Pre-Cleanse or simply wash your face and allow your lashes to dry completely.
  2. Choose your Gossamers: Lashify offers a variety of Gossamers in different lengths, styles, and thicknesses. Select the Gossamers that best suit your desired look. You can mix and match different Gossamers to create a customized lash style.
  3. Apply the Whisper Light lash bond: Dip the tip of the Fuse Control Wand into the Whisper Light lash bond. Make sure to apply a thin, even coat to the underside of the Gossamer strip, focusing on the middle and ends. Avoid applying the bond to the base of the Gossamers.
  4. Place the Gossamers under your lashes: Using the Fuse Control Wand, gently place the Gossamers under your natural lashes, starting from the outer corner of your eye and working your way inward. The Gossamers should be applied a couple of millimeters away from your waterline.
  5. Fuse the Gossamers: Once the Gossamers are in place, use the Fuse Control Wand to gently press and fuse the Gossamers to your natural lashes. Start from the outer corner and move inward, using a rolling motion to ensure a secure bond.
  6. Repeat the process: Continue applying Gossamers and fusing them until you achieve your desired lash look. You can add as many or as few Gossamers as you like, depending on the level of volume and length you want.
  7. Apply Glass finishing coat: Once you’re satisfied with your lash look, apply a thin coat of Lashify’s Glass finishing coat to seal and set the Gossamers in place. This will also give your lashes a glossy, polished finish.

How to Maintain Lashify Lashes

Proper maintenance is key to making your Lashify lashes last as long as possible. Here are some tips to help you maintain your Lashify lashes:

  • Avoid oil-based products: Oil-based makeup removers, cleansers, and skincare products can weaken the lash bond and cause the Gossamers to loosen or fall off. Stick to oil-free products to ensure the longevity of your lashes.
  • Be gentle: Avoid rubbing or pulling on your lashes, as this can cause them to come off prematurely. Instead, gently pat or dab your face when cleansing or drying.
  • Avoid excessive moisture: While Lashify lashes are water-resistant, it’s best to avoid excessive moisture, such as swimming or prolonged exposure to steam. If your lashes do get wet, gently pat them dry with a towel.
  • Avoid mascara: Lashify lashes are designed to give you a full, voluminous look without the need for mascara. Avoid applying mascara directly on your Lashify lashes, as it can make them clumpy and difficult to remove.

How to Remove Lashify Lashes

When it’s time to remove your Lashify lashes, follow these steps:

  1. Apply Lashify’s Melt Away: Using a cotton swab or lint-free applicator, apply Lashify’s Melt Away lash remover to the base of your Gossamers. Make sure to saturate the lash bond with the remover.
  2. Wait for the bond to dissolve: Allow the Melt Away lash remover to work its magic for about 60 seconds. The bond will start to dissolve, loosening the Gossamers.
  3. Gently remove the Gossamers: Once the bond has sufficiently dissolved, gently pull the Gossamers away from your natural lashes. Be careful not to tug or pull too hard, as this can damage your natural lashes.

How Long Do Lashify Lashes Last?

The longevity of Lashify lashes can vary depending on several factors, including your individual lash growth cycle, how well you maintain them, and your lifestyle. On average, Lashify lashes can last up to a week with proper care. However, some users have reported their lashes lasting even longer, up to two weeks or more.

Can You Reuse Lashify Lashes?

Yes, you can reuse Lashify Gossamers. Lashify designed their Gossamers to be reusable, allowing you to get multiple wears out of each set. After removing the Gossamers, gently clean them with Lashify’s Cleansing Water or oil-free micellar water to remove any leftover bond or makeup. Store the cleaned Gossamers in their original case or a clean, dry container until you’re ready to use them again.

Is Lashify Worth It?

As someone who has struggled with lash enhancements in the past, I can confidently say that Lashify is absolutely worth it. The system is easy to use, the results are stunning, and the lashes are comfortable to wear. Not only do they look natural, but they also save me a significant amount of time and money compared to salon extensions. Plus, the fact that Lashify is gentle on my sensitive eyes is a huge bonus.
